We all love comics that keep things short and sweet, providing us with a quick chuckle to get us through our daily challenges. Quickies Comics from illustrator Joey Murphy and writer Brandon Martin provide just that.
Quickies Comics is a series of single-panel comics that keeps things simple and to the point with effective jokes and a beautifully drawn black-and-white visual style. The comics feature all sorts of subjects ranging from pop culture, with characters like Super Mario and motifs from the Star Wars franchise, to interactions between cutlery and moments from everyday life.
According to Martin, who comes up with the ideas for jokes, most of his inspiration comes from his own life and random moments in his day.
“The challenge of telling a full joke in a single panel is finding the simplest version of the joke – and that’s always the funniest,” Martin explains via Bored Panda.
Murphy and Martin started the series as a pastime activity during the pandemic. However, it didn’t take long before their brand of humor found its way to social media users. They now boast an admirable fan base, including 28.5K followers on Instagram, which turn to their pieces for a quick laugh. Check out more of them below, and you’ll quickly become a fan as well.
