Do you know that you can make a tornado with bottled water? It may not be a life hack, but it’s still fun. The MEL Science page has a fun video that shows you how it’s done.
In the video, we see a bottle containing water being poured out by positioning the bottle upside down suddenly. While the water is being poured out, air tries to come into the container.
The air trying to come into the first container slows down the pace with which the water runs out. The water in the second container, on the other hand, was swirled before it was turned upside down. This swirling pushes the water to the edges of the bottle, thereby creating space at the center that looks like a tornado.
When it is turned upside down, the air coming in goes through the center, while the water flows out around the edges of its opening. Since there’s an air passage and water passage, the water flows without much resistance.
