Illustrator Draws the Funny Conversations He Overhears

Listening to someone else’s conversation is not a good thing, but we’ve all done it. Even though we’re not supposed to, we’re all a little nosey when it comes to other peoples’ problems. Rarely do we hear something interesting, but sometimes we hear things we’d rather forget and on rare occasions we even hear secrets.

Avner Geller is an artist who, just like most of us, overhears conversations, but instead of chatting about it with his friends, he creates amusing illustrations. #ThingsThatIHear is the title of his funny illustration series that shows the things he had overheard in cafes, airports or anywhere in Los Angeles.

His inspiration came when he was visiting a cookware store and noticed a young woman that was looking at her phone and with a big sigh, turned to her friend and said: “He wants to go to Bali. But I say Fiji!”. This absurd situation made him laugh and soon, he started to notice all the absurd first-world problems, turning them into funny illustrations.
