Japanese Artist Turns Fruits and Vegetables into Pieces of Art

Mukimono is the traditional Japanese art of decorative garnishing – the carving of fruit and vegetable. You can see skillfully carved produce in many restaurants and it’s so common that most people don’t pay much attention to it. That is unless someone’s particularly good at it.

Food artist, Gaku, has been perfecting his craft for years, and his food carving work captures the attention of nearly 250k Instagram followers. His favorite fruit for carving is a banana because it’s easy to work with and pretty cheap.

Enjoy his work below and follow him on Instagram to see more.

Would you try food carving yourself or do you prefer to just look at it?
