Friday: Tlacoyos, a Mexican street food of pre-Hispanic origins. A torpedo shaped pattie of corn masa filled with beans and fried, topped with fresh salsa roja, sprinkled with plenty of queso fresco, avocado, coriander leaf and lime 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 So nice to have taken the week off from cooking too – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Tomorrow we are heading to Mexico City ✈️ and our week of total relaxation with @nocrumbsleft is coming to an end! 😭😭 #symmetrybreakfast

Saturday: Huevos Rancheros 🤠 Cowboy (or Cowgirl) Eggs! We are off to Mexico City TODAY 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽 Are you as excited as me? Maybe, but probably not 😂 Where shall we go for breakfast tomorrow morning? Wednesday: Kaddu paratha 🎃🎃🎃 made with finely grated pumpkin, served with pickle and yoghurt and tea from Meghalaya. You could say it’s Pumpkin Spiced, but a lot of different spices 😹 (ps I hate pumpkin spiced lattes) – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – With the exception of the yoghurt/curd, if you make a paratha with oil (I used olive oil) rather than ghee, then you’ve got yourself a quick and easy to make #vegan delight. All you need is a grater, a rolling pin and a frying pan. What’s your favourite type of paratha? #symmetrybreakfast

Tuesday: Soufflé Omelette, topped with some leftovers from last night, sautéed baby courgette flowers and onion and then plenty of dukkah 👍🏻👍🏻 A wonderful pumpkin swirly bread thing that Mark picked up from Fascino Bakery, on the way home from his new job! Thursday: Kaya Toast, made with thick sliced white bread (the King of bread if you ask me 😂) with pandan kaya 🙌🏼 and soft poached eggs in soy sauce, it’s the salty sweet combo, with the luscious creaminess of the egg, pure joy if you ask me ❤️ – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Hands up if you’re eating Kaya Toast this morning too!! Saturday: Breakfast @cafebeam in Highbury 🇬🇧 Their classic shakshuka, in these lovely Turkish pans with a mix of pita and buttered granary toast which is a simple stroke of genius, a very berry raspberry and blueberry smoothie and a coffee 🙌🏼 – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – It’s North African in origin but I feel I should start doing some significant shakshuka research soon because we’ll be in Istanbul in a months time 🇹🇷 Can anyone recommend some great recipes or even better, your favourite one in Istanbul?! #symmetrybreakfast

Thursday: Goodmorning from @thegoodegg_ in Kingly Court, Soho 🇬🇧 I’ve ordered the boureka plate and upgraded it with one of their housemade pretzel challah rolls and some extra dips like pumpkin hummus, labneh, whipped green feta and delicious pickles – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – It was this time two years ago that I had my charity brunch with the Good Egg in Stoke Newington to raise money for @cookforsyria and @unicef_uk How time flies by! Wednesday: Turkish breakfast at @yosma_london 🇹🇷🇬🇧 with their Sucuklu Yumurta Shakshuka, bottomless Turkish tea and a fresh orange and carrot juice, not in shot is a simit with honeycomb and kaymak. – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Tomorrow is our last day back in London before a quick pit stop in Hong Kong and then finally home to Shanghai, for maybe about 10 days before we go to Istanbul for the first time 😂😂 (I’m already TIRED) #symmetrybreakfast

Wednesday: Kanelbullar, those absolutely delicious cardamom buns with a cinnamon butter filling from Sweden 🇸🇪 handmade by yours truly with a recipe from Bread and Butter, a cookbook I picked up in London by @thesnapery @applesforeve and @butterculture I don’t think I’m going to be taking any jobs from the Swedes with my misshaped buns but my god they taste phenomenal 🤪 with some matcha to cut through the sweetness and some festive little oranges 小橘 (which is the name of our cat!) – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – What festive baking are you getting up to? Friday: Bánh Xèo with nước mắm pha, a 🇻🇳 Vietnamese rice flour pancake with turmeric and a sour, hot, fishy dipping sauce. My pancake has pork, prawn and mung bean sprouts as the filling, with butter lettuce and fresh mint. You eat this one with your hands 👐🏼🤲🏻🙌🏼👋🏼🤘🏼👍🏻 – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – The name Bánh Xèo translates as ‘sizzling pancake’ after the very loud sound the batter makes when it hits the hot pan! Don’t you love when dishes are named in such exciting ways? A bit like Chinese 油爆虾 oil exploding shrimp, or even just popcorn 🍿❤️ #symmetrybreakfast

Thursday: Baby Baozi 宝贝包子, steamed buns of various delightful and healthy-ish flavours 🙌🏼chocolate, red bean and matcha, orange and mixed peel, whole grain with nuts and quinoa, a few raspberries for a sweet touch, black sesame soy milk and a cup of Earl Grey tea, I live for the hot and cold drinks together 🔥❄️ – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – When things are in mini baby form I can easily eat 5 times the amount 😂 Especially mini cocktail sausages and shots 🎉🎉🎉#symmetrybreakfast

Monday: Homemade baked beans (the recipe is in my book) made with 五花肉 salty Chinese belly pork, fried eggs, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and some Aleppo pepper. Finished with plenty of vitamin C ☀️☀️☀️ for those winter blues – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – But speaking of those winter blues, next week we are off to New Zealand 🇳🇿 for CNY!
