Nashid Chroma is a talented artist who claims he’s inspired people, color, and nature, and many of his illustrations share one common thread. He often uses popular culture as a source of inspiration, and his body of work is all about celebrating his favorite artists and giving them their flowers.
Chroma is a digital pop artist based in Toronto, who studied fine art and psychology at the University of Waterloo, before getting his master’s of architecture from the University of Toronto. He decided to use the power of social media to share his creations with the world and attracted 190,000 followers to his Instagram page.
Chroma’s illustrations often put celebrities front and center and explore their duality, presenting them as both real people with emotions and insecurities and idols of secular worship and adoration.
“The compositions and visual motifs are inspired by each icon’s upbringing, influences, or the emotions that they evoke from their performances. Floral and geometric adornments are loaded with meaning to humanize the person in question, but they also visually abstract the portraits to feel disconnected and object-like,” he explains on his official website.
Chroma used his illustrations to pay homage to many A-list celebrities, ranging from actors to musicians. Post Malone, The Weeknd, Eminem, Bad Bunny, and Beyoncé are some of the contemporary artists he painted in his unique style, but we’ve also seen him celebrate such all-time greats as Bob Marley and The Notorious B.I.G.
