Blockbuster. That smells like nostalgia, right? For those of you who didn’t have a privilege to live in the ’90s and early 00’s, Blockbuster was the place to go for your Sunday movie night. Before Netflix, Hulu and all the streaming services, Blockbuster provided people with the latest movies and TV shows. You would go to the closest Blockbuster shop, take a DVD or VHS with the movie, and return it after watching.
Of course, over time, that became too complicated and with the convenience that streaming services brought, Blockbuster started losing customers. At one point, Blockbuster had 9,094 stores but now there are just around 10 that survived.
One of those surviving Blockbuster shops is active on Twitter and their tweets are absolute comedy gold. People behind The Last Blockbuster know their end is near, but that doesn’t stop them to look on the bright side and put a smile on the faces of their followers.
“This account was created to get face-to-face with them and build a personal relationship for a better Blockbuster future. And to contact people who owe us late fees.” – said one of the employees for the Daily Dot.
So, if you have one Blockbuster movie that you forgot to return, don’t follow them and check out some of their funniest tweets below.
