Paper Artist Makes Realistic Sculptures From Crepe Paper

Tina Kraus is an illustrator and paper engineer whose crafting journey began two years ago when she started making paper sculptures. The Münster, Germany-based artist first began making plants, insects and one gecko from fine crepe paper.

“When I began working with crepe paper, I started with creating traditional flowers, but I was curious what else I could do with it,” Kraus shared on Bored Panda. “So I made a not-so-traditional plant, the Venus flytrap. I had a lot of fun with the details! Next, I tried to make insects, even though the insects I chose are not too far from plants since they are disguised as flowers or sticks. After that, I challenged myself to make a gecko, and I was quite happy with how it turned out.”

Her work also includes a pop-up book, paper toys, and paper objects. The artist also does children’s book, editorial, non-fiction, pattern and stationery illustration.
