The Facade

Her work questions gender and sexuality, identity and reality, through digital media. She is the star and co-creator of the short film American Reflexxx which she and her girlfriend Alli Coates released in 2015. The film reached more than 2 million views on YouTube and it’s about masses trying to gender-identify Pierce in a violent and dehumanizing manner, while she is just walking down the street. The film garnered instant attention online by the general and expert audience and it served as an introduction to her conceptual work, often described as cyberfeminist.

Pierce’s video works have been shown at MoMA, NY, MdbK, Leipzig, Athens Biennial, Palais de Tokyo, and many other international museums and galleries. She has a BFA degree from the School of Visual Arts and has received many acknowledgments for her work during the last 10 years.

Here are some of her digital works that can be found on Instagram.
