There are numerous superstitions surrounding black cats and many people consider them unlucky, but the founder of Studio After Cigs would probably disagree. Their illustrations became a true sensation on social media thanks to their sassy black cat Pow Pow.
Studio After Cigs’ founder stumbled upon Pow Pow behind their housing area, and they believe that faith brought them together. It was love at first sight, and Pow Pow quickly became the main star of most illustrations drawn by this Malaysian artist.
“I adopted a cat in early 2021, and I am really into her grumpy and sassy cattitude; that’s how the whole story started. I observe her, play with her, and I blend her cattitude with my sarcastic nature into the painting,” they told Bored Panda.
One of the most impressive things about this Malaysian artist is that they managed to build a huge following without formal education. Studio After Cigs’ founder is completely self-taught and they’re learning at their own pace and discovering new techniques along the way.
