]]>In his Bummer Party comics, Rusty combines a simplistic but eye-pleasing drawing style with hard-hitting jokes. He takes inspiration from everyday situations that he infuses with big doses of silliness. This includes conversations among friends, menial tasks like cooking, and interactions with people on the internet.
Rusty admits that social media is his favorite subject.
“My comics are largely consumed by people I don’t know and will never meet but who know me. Thinking about that parasocial relationship too much can give you the heebie-jeebies, so I try and process it through humor and comics,” Rusty shared with Bored Panda in a recent interview.
Rusty adds that the goal of Bummer Party comics isn’t to challenge people to think about life or prompt emotions. Instead, the artist just wants to provide internet users with some laughs and brighten up their day. Judging by Rusty’s growing following on Instagram and Webtoon, the platform on which he publishes the comic, he is doing just that.

The comics feature all sorts of subjects ranging from pop culture, with characters like Super Mario and motifs from the Star Wars franchise, to interactions between cutlery and moments from everyday life.
According to Martin, who comes up with the ideas for jokes, most of his inspiration comes from his own life and random moments in his day.
“The challenge of telling a full joke in a single panel is finding the simplest version of the joke – and that’s always the funniest,” Martin explains via Bored Panda.
Murphy and Martin started the series as a pastime activity during the pandemic. However, it didn’t take long before their brand of humor found its way to social media users. ]]>Created by cartoonist Nick Seluk, Heart and Brain comics imagine what would happen if human organs could talk. They feature all sorts of funny scenarios and conversations that feel quite relatable. For example, most of us experienced situations where our hearts were “telling” us to quit our jobs and pursue our true passions before our brains stepped in and reminded us that we should be more passionate about being able to pay our bills.
Seluk ventured into comic creation in 2012 with The Awkward Yeti comics. The original comic followed the daily life of a blue Yeti named Lars, who would occasionally have conversations with anthropomorphized versions of his heart and brain.
While Heart and Brain were envisioned as side characters, they soon became fan favorites. This prompted Seluk to create a Heart and Brain spin-off comic, which has since outshined the original.

]]>Sheba is a self-taught Japanese artist with a passion for penguins, as is evident from her IG account dedicated to drawings of the funny little birds. But instead of just drawing penguins in their natural environment – resting on an iceberg or swimming in the ocean – Sheba likes to imagine what it would be like for a penguin to perform a human task. It can be anything from cooking do reading a book.
The idea may sound outlandish, but Sheba’s drawings prove that the world could do with drawings of penguins skipping rope or having a bubble bath. With their sort wings and legs and their round face, imagining them trying to do anything remotely human is just hilarious. And in Sheba’s drawing, they usually fail at even the simplest tasks – in the most adorable way possible.
While it’s easy to feel sorry for Sheba’s penguins and their misadventures, the paintings will lift the spirit of anyone who sees them.
