A good laugh doesn’t hurt anybody, right? If you feel the world is falling apart, finding and enjoying a funny comic is always a good idea. It can brighten up your day and bring a smile to your face—or at least that’s what Pete Joison tries to achieve with his hobby.
Originally a graphic designer, Joison was encouraged by his family and friends to start posting his drawings online. He has been doodling for years, but it was only back in February 2020 when he launched his Instagram account titled Once We Were Turnips.
He describes his style as “simple lines full of whimsy” and explains that he has always been inspired by simple comic art like Peanuts, Gary Larson, and Garfield, as well as shows like The Simpsons, Ren & Stimpy, and Invader Zim.
He currently has more than 11,000 Instagram followers and says that he likes having a creative outlet that doesn’t include clients or deadlines, which helps him stay sane.
Besides his Instagram profile, you can find Joison on his website, where you can buy hand-drawn canvases.
