These Dogs Create Abstract Art By Shaking Paint Off Their Bodies

Shelter dogs are a huge problem worldwide.

As more and more people decide to buy dogs from kennels and shops, only to realize that they don’t want them anymore, the number of dogs that end up in shelters will only continue growing.

Just like in other countries, the growing population of shelter dogs is a huge problem in Brazil. The lack of infrastructure and funding has made it increasingly difficult for the shelters in Brazil to provide housing for all the dogs that keep pouring in on a daily basis.

That’s why Canismo was born.

An art project designed to help raise awareness on shelter dogs, the campaign uses actual shelter dogs. How? By covering them with paint made out of a combination of cornstarch and food coloring and allowing them to express themselves by shaking the paint off and onto canvases hung around them.

You can watch the video below to see how these dogs are fighting for their freedom by expressing themselves in arguably the brightest and most adorable way possible.
