Blanca Gómez’s Illustrations Are Delightful In Their Simplicity

We dare you not to smile when scrolling through Blanca Gómez’s Instagram feed. Her illustrations, infused with imagination and creativity, look as if they were taken straight out of a children’s book. So it’s little wonder she took to art at an early age.

“When I was little I would draw all day long like many kids do and my parents enrolled me in a painting academy,” she shared with Grain Edit. “I would always say that I wanted to be a painter, but as I grew older I didn’t see it as a feasible option and the idea faded.”

“One month after finishing college and my design coursework I began working for a small graphic design studio that was mainly dedicated to the production of business literature. That is where I learned to work in a very rigorous and precise manner.”

When it comes to her inspiration Gómez admits she just goes with the flow. “To be sincere, I’m not too certain what inspires me,” she said. “I suppose that everything that surrounds me and everything that I like inspires me inevitably. I’m a huge collector of objects and books. Picasso said something along the lines of it being best for inspiration to find you working, I happen to think that’s a good way to put it.”
