Peacocks are unique and beautiful birds that are seen mostly in zoos. Their beautiful and conspicuous plumes make them exceptionally pretty amongst other birds.
The peacocks’ tails are referred to as their train. Those consists of very long upper tail coverts. Peacocks have eyespot marks on their feathers, which are easily seen when the peacocks fan their tails. Their plumes are really beautiful and give them a sense of royalty.
The females are referred to as peahens, and only the peacocks have trains. Those are used during mating season to impress the ladies. They do this by shaking and rattling their wings. The peacock’s dance is actually what determines which peacock is chosen over another.
Peacocks are known to move on the ground and not to fly. Their long plumes make it more difficult to escape danger. But amazingly, this video shows a peacock in midair.
