Howie Kim’s Digital Art Makes Everything Possible

Howie Kim creates surreal self-portraits that feature many dreamlike scenes and various creatures that are not from this world. He has an Instagram page with over 200k followers where he shares his work. If you browse it, you will find digitally altered photos of him riding a giant axolotl, him as a baby sleeping on a hippo, his head mounted onto a scorpion’s body, and many more.

Kim started his art career as a painter when he was 23 by enrolling in a fine art school. He then started experimenting with digital media and never looked back. Today, his work is distinctive and easily recognizable at first glance as he found his original aesthetic along the way.

“My aesthetic has always been informed by my interests,” Kim told It’s Nice That. “I’ve always liked things that are a little different.” Check out his work below.
