Katya Dorokhina is the Russian Artist Behind These Adorable Illustrations

Artist Katya Dorokhina grew up in a small city in eastern Russia where “there weren’t that many interesting things around,” as she told It’s Nice That. As a kid, her favorite things were Disney movies, Pokémon, and drawing. From today’s perspective, it’s not surprising that she continued illustrating when she grew up.

Dorokhina went to a design school in Moscow. “In the beginning, I had a really poor idea about the creative industries and what I could do as a future profession,” she told the outlet. “All I knew is that I love to draw and that it’s fun.” Over time, she realized that illustration is the medium where she can express herself best.

One of her latest projects is a publication Chill Pill through which you can really see the artist’s personality. Dorokhina is not against exploring visual metaphors when she does commercial work, but she can do it more freely in personal projects such as this one.
