Kyutae Lee’s Art Captures the Uniqueness of Places

Art is wonderful because it’s free of rules, but something magical happens when an artist has a perfect technique and enough creativity to make something amazingly different.

Kyutae Lee is an illustrator from Gyeonggi, South Korea. His signature style includes soft shading and blended tones, which creates a cozy atmosphere and warm feel in his pencil drawings.

Kyutae works a lot and has provided illustrations for numerous book covers and editorial illustrations from Korea, managing to work on his own art in the meantime. “I’ve always been drawing steadily,” he reveals and we’re not surprised.

“I try to recreate the feeling of a place,” Kyutae explains.. “I take pictures of places I’ve been to in person and transfer the expression of the place onto paper.”
