Ryn Frank’s Fine-Line Illustrations Are The Meaning of Endearing

It’s hard not to be taken by Ryn Frank’s minimalist fine line illustrations. Drawn by hand, Frank is passionate about the unique touch hand-drawn illustrations can offer and specializes in both hands drawn illustrations and typography. Inspired by adventures, Botanics, the ocean, nature, old Victorian drawings, and slow living, her black and white illustrations invite us to take a breather.

Like most artists, Frank’s creative journey began early on. “As a child I would spend hours creating sketches and doodling in the garden,” she recalled in an interview with Freelance Wisdom. “It was my way of getting lost very quickly into a different and somewhat magical world and I loved that.”

“I’ve always wanted to do something different where I could be creative and have freedom in my work,” she admitted. “My partner and I now run a creative design studio together which focuses on branding and illustration for a wide range of companies.”

With select clients that include Anthropologie, Lonely planet, Marks & Spencer, and Penguin publishing, Frank clearly has her work cut out for her. But when she’s not in her studio by the sea, she can be found walking with her dog, sketchbook in hand taking inspiration from the countryside and coast where she lives.

Here’s a collection of some of our favorite illustrations by her.
