Back in 2016, self-taught artist Carl Lavia and photographer Lorna Le Bredonchel joined forces for an intricate project “#69Cities,” with an aim to create large-scale hand drawings of 69 cities in the United Kingdom.

This expansive project has Lavia, who has been doing architectural illustrations since the age of five, using ink and archival paper to create impressive pieces that look like maps from afar but are in fact amazingly detailed showing of city’s landscapes.  Le Bredonchel documents the artist’s entire creative process, from the early sketches to exploring the cities and making the finished art piece.

Each drawing takes from two to four months to be completed, and is then presented on an exhibition in the respective city. The list of cities that have been sketched so far contain Dundee, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and Stirling, while the sketch of Perth is nearly completed.
