Childhood is a time filled with wonder. And for Montreal-based painter, Dominique Fortin, this provides the perfect backdrop for her art.
Fortin’s fantastical paintings blend the real with the surreal, creating magical scenarios that will spark your imagination. Her call in life? To rediscover the “lost paradise” of childhood.
Born in 1974, Fortin has a background in visual arts and jewelry. Her dream-like creations are exhibited in galleries around the globe.
According to her gallerist, Fortin is inspired by the ideals of “optimistic perspectives and delightful aesthetics” of childhood, as well as the constant redefinition of life. “She is influenced by individuals that listen to their heart, those devoting themselves towards an ideal and that are true to themselves.”
But not only childhood serves as inspiration for this artist. Fortin also says that taking yoga lessons dramatically changed the way she thinks and feels about life and art.
