Illustrator and mosaic artist Donna Van Hooser lives and works in Phoenix, Arizona where she runs her brand Sun Dog Mosaics. Donna did her first animal portrait as a donation to a local animal shelter fund-raiser and just kept creating them ever since.
“It was not a specific animal but rather a whimsical mosaic of a chihuahua wearing a tiara and pearls,” she explains. “It was made for an annual art auction to benefit a local animal shelter in Kansas City that I participated in every year. I wish I could remember who went home with it; it was an early favorite of mine.”
