Swarovski Designs Smart Binoculars That Can Recognize Over 9,000 Bird and Animal Species

Some animals and birds are easy to identify. You’ll hardly fail to recognize a bear or an eagle when you see one. However, with so many nature residents out there, it is hard to know which one is which every time.

This is why Swarovski Optik, a subsidiary of glass company Swarovski, designed AX Visio smart binoculars that can recognize more than 9,000 species of birds and animals.

Once the user zeros in on the bird or an animal, the binoculars will identify it in real time and provide its name and location using Artificial Intelligence software. It also comes with an integrated camera that allows you to snap photos of birds and animals and share them with your smartphone.

“The AX Visio are the world’s first AI-supported binoculars and a perfect symbiosis of high-performance analog long-range optics and digital intelligence. At the touch of a button, they assist with the identification of birds and other creatures, allowing discoveries to be shared, and offer a wide range of practical extra functions,” the company shared in a press release.

The AX Visio smart binoculars will become available for purchase in February 2024. They are currently priced at $4,799.
