When Tig was rescued, no one thought he was going to make it. Today he’s a bouncy, energetic puppy that’s living life to the fullest.
Tig was spotted by a bystander, laying in the gutter in a Washington suburb. The puppy was so small and weak, the rescued weren’t even sure he was still alive at first. When they noticed his shallow breathing, they knew he was still with them – barely.
Tig weighed 15 pounds at the time of his rescue, less than half the normal weight for a dog his size and age. He was rushed into an animal hospital to be treated, though even than the rescuers and doctors thought all they could do for him is make him comfortable in his last moment.
But Tig hadn’t given up yet. With the veterinary team’s devoted care, he started getting stronger little by little. After three days, he was strong enough to go into a foster home. Kim, his foster mom, had a lot of experience with fosters and knew just how to care for the poor pup. Slowly but surely, Tig gained strength. Just a week after his rescue he was able to stand, and two weeks later he was already playing with Kim’s rottweiler.
Today, Tig is healthy and happy in his forever home. He put his past behind him, and now feels safe and loved in his home, with his family and doggy brothers. And that’s all thanks to a few humans who decided to give an abandoned puppy a second chance at life.
