Takashi Yasui is a 35-year-old Japanese photographer based in Osaka who’s got a special talent for making people fall in love with his country by capturing delicate shots of its everyday, unseen beauty.
He got into photography in 2010 by shooting family portraits and soon developed a passion for the medium and turned it into a serious hobby. After immersing himself into learning all the ropes of the trade such as finding an optimal location, choosing the right perspective and creating a balanced composition, Yasui turned professional in 2015 and began collaborating with brands and prominent artists, while continuing to refine his own style of photography.
Yasui has taken inspiration from many well-known and up-and-coming photographers from Japan, the US, Canada, and France, and isn’t afraid to experiment and grow with the insights he gained from them, which makes his photography continually fresh and alluring.
Japan is a country of breath-taking beauty and intricate rich culture, and Yasui always looks for exceptional locations that accentuate its natural, architectural or urban splendor. His photographs are often honest interpretations of the contrast between modernity and antiquity that exist simultaneously, if not oddly complimenting each other, in the urban sprawls and natural scenery whose essence he strives to depict.
